Chapter 600
Naturally, it wasn't to say that Cordy's impression of Lucas improved.
She simply didn’t find it necessary to be confrontational with him.
Nonetheless, Lucas snorted with disdain. "Don't even think about it."
"That won't do," Cordy retorted, and shrugged off her blanket to get to her feet.
Although she was under the impression that she had gotten much better, she must’ve sweated so
much that her vision blacked out abruptly the moment she got up; her body suddenly went limp.
Lucas was close enough to react quickly, catching her just as she was about to fall.
His hands were a little firm as he held her in his arms. Cordy felt the world spinning around her, but she
soon recovered.
The instant she did, she sensed her own body pressing against Lucas; she even felt his heart racing.

"You really are resourceful when it comes to bewitching men," he said, releasing her.
All the warmth Cordy felt from his kindness was immediately doused by a bucket of ice water, and she
pushed him away to stride inside the bathroom.
"If you dare to faint there on purpose, I’ll definitely tell that middle-aged doctor to change your clothes!
Cordy slammed the door firmly shut in his face.
She really mustn’t keep her hopes up when it comes to this man.
She took a shower; she must admit that despite Lucas's blunt words, she was reminded that she
should make it fast.
With her body as frail as it was now, she might really faint inside the bathroom.
She just washed herself a little before putting on fresh patient garbs and stepping outside.
She didn't wash her hair, but the shower left it a little wet and stuck to her clothes.
The bath made her appear to be in better spirits; she stepped out, looking fresh and clean.
Lucas had been clearing up the paperwork to get her checked into the hospital, and looked up just as
she stepped out with her natural looks.
It wasn’t as if he hadn’t seen her without makeup-he actually saw every part of her last night, after all.
But at that very moment, her quiet beauty left him stunned for a moment.
Still, he quickly turned away.
Since when had he developed an interest in uniforms?
Most importantly, her clothes were clearly too large for her; her body's movements could be seen
underneath.
The thought of that left him gulping ever so slightly.
Cordy paid no attention to his reaction, however, and looked away after a brief glance.
She had not the slightest interest in him; it did not concern her at all, since people had different

Suddenly, she was curious about what his girlfriend looked like. She didn't like him at all, and wondered
how anyone could stand him.
Was his girlfriend the mild type? Spicy? Vivacious? Youthful? Natural?
Still, Cordy's heart skipped a beat.
Why was she getting so worked up about this? What Lucas's girlfriend looked like was of no concern to
her. To think she actually regarded that question seriously!
As such, she simply returned to bed and leaned against the headboard. She took out her phone; just
as she was going to read the news, she suddenly felt a little hungry.
She finally remembered that she hadn't eaten, but it was already long past midnight.
Getting food at the moment was probably impossible! Cordy sighed softly, planning to ignore her
hunger.
