Chapter 449
The person in the car did not accept his argument. Suddenly, he bellowed, “I
am going to ask you one question! Since my daughter loves you deeply and
took a bullet for you, are you daring enough to join her in the afterlife?”
Emmanuel trembled. For a moment, he did not know how to respond to this.
If this was a critical moment, he would willingly take a bullet for her. However,
if he were to die now, would that bring Claudette back to life?
He wasn’t afraid of death, but he did not want to die in vain. The living would
grieve for him.
“Give him a gun!” The person in the car ordered in a cold manner.
The next moment, the butler handed Emmanuel a gun. It turned out that they
wanted him to commit suicide!

He looked at the gun, which was marked with a military number, and stood
rooted to the spot.

Laura, who had been sitting beside him all this while said with a smile,
“General, it seems that the Quillen family is protective of their son-in-law.”
He did not reply to her.
Alfred got down from the Mercedes and strode toward the Rolls-Royce. He
had both his hands in his pockets as he said with narrowed eyes, “General
Lenoir, even a prominent figure like you would find it hard to conclude this
matter in such a manner. I believe you might get demoted if you continue
this charade of yours.”
Anybody who held an official post was afraid of being demoted.

General Lenoir wasn’t an exception. It seemed that Alfred knew his weakness!
The reason he dispersed the crowd was so that he could relieve the pressure
on himself. By doing that, he would be able to get his way with Emmanuel.
However, he never expected the Quillen family to send their butler here. It
seemed that his plans were ruined!
Before he left, he still refused to let Emmanuel off the hook. He said coldly,
“You are not worthy to stay in Yeringham. Sooner or later, you will be forced to
the edge of despair!”
Emmanuel sighed helplessly for he knew the power of the Lenoir family.
Never in his wildest imagination did he dream that he would be at odds with
them.
He had a good relationship with Claudette before this. Now that it had come
to this, it pained him extremely.
He did not understand why he had to bear the burden of being Claudette’s
murderer when the true murderer was obviously somebody else.

After the Lenoir family’s car fleet left, Emmanuel disappeared as well.
Daren and Frederick did not know what happened in the end. For Darren
especially, he was certain that once Emmanuel left the hospital, he would
never return.
As such, he was on cloud nine. At the moment, he was unable to find a
kindred spirit to share his joy when suddenly, he thought of Milani.
He wondered what she would think if she knew that Emmanuel was in such a
state.
“Darren, are you for real? Did Emmanuel sink that low?”
She was shocked the moment she received Darren’s message.
Back then, she thought of chasing him instead. She even listened to her
cousin’s stupid idea and publicly announced her love for him in Moments.
Now that she thought about it, she realized what a fool she had been.
As such, the moment she heard that Emmanuel had lost his backing, and
had become the target of the Lenoir family, she felt a certain sense of elation.
What was that saying again? ‘What goes around comes around’ She truly
wished to see how badly her blind date had fallen in order to satisfy her
perverse mentality.
