Chapter 0695

The situation was painfully clear to Suzy—she'd been set up.

Whoever was behind this had been monitoring her every move, laying out a trap long before she arrived, just

waiting for her to walk into it.

Her gaze sharpened as she looked at the man in front of her, his eyes blazing with hatred.

"You and | both know I didn't kill your mother. What | can't figure out is, what price could be high enough for you

to sacrifice your own mother?"

"What are you talking about? You're the one who killed her! If you're not going to admit it, fine, but don't you

dare try to pin this on me!"

He pulled out his phone, his fingers shaking as he dialed. "I'm calling the police right now!"

And he did.

Suzy didn't stop him.

There was no point-it wasn't like she could. Instead, she decided to see just how far this setup would go.

Within minutes, the police arrived.

It wasn't surprising, given that Suzy had noticed a police station just a short distance from Vivian's building when

she arrived.

That explained their quick response.

Surely, even the mastermind behind this wouldn't have gone so far as to pre- arrange the police, right?

The officers stepped inside and immediately took a hard stance. One of them fixed a sharp glare on Suzy.

"We received a report that you're involved in a suspected case of hinvasion and murder. Can you explain

why the victim is lying here dead? Did you kill her?"

"If | say no—" Suzy began, only to be cut off by one of the officers, who clearly wasn't impressed with her calm

demeanor.

"If you didn't kill her, then why are you at the scene of the crime?"

"Is it impossible forto be doing a good deed?" Suzy replied with a faint smile.

"I happened to be passing by when | noticed a strong smell of blood coming from inside the apartment. The door

was unlocked, so | cin to check.

"That's when | found the victim. | was just about to call the police when her son walked in, refused to hear my

explanation, and immediately accusedof being the killer."

At this moment, Vivian's son interjected, "Passing by? This isn't sbusy street. How could you be passing by

my apartment? This is a residential building. Why didn't you 'pass by' someone else's place instead of mine?"

"I had business here, of course," Suzy retorted, her sharp eyes locking onto him.

"But what about you? The way you rushed in right after | entered the timing was a little too perfect, don't you

think? Feels like you were waiting for this moment."

The police turned their attention to the man. "Do you normally live with your mother?"

His tone was calm and unhurried.

"Yes, we live together. When | left this morning, my mom was fine. | was at work just now when | suddenly felt

this overwhelming sense of unease, like something terrible was going to happen. It was the first tI'd ever felt

something like that! "I got worried that maybe something was wrong with my health, so | called my mom. But no

one answered, not after several tries."

He pulled out his phone and showed his call log to the officers.

"I called her multiple times, but she didn't pick up. My mom hardly ever misses my calls. She usually answers

right away.

"She has high blood pressure, so | got really concerned. | asked for leave and rushed home, only to walk in and

see her killing my mom!"

The officer pressed further. "You saw her kill your mother with your own eyes?"

"Yes! As soon as | walked in, | saw her stabbing my mom with a knife!" he said, his voice full of fury as he pointed

an accusing finger at Suzy.

"You vile woman, why did you kill my mother?"

"Do you know her?" the officer asked him again.

He shook his head firmly.

"No, I've never seen her before. | don't think my mom knew her either. I'm familiar

with my mom's friends, and this woman isn't one of them."
