"Heh..." Dylan let out a helpless laugh.
"In this world, you're the first and only person who doesn't trustlike this."
After pressing his lips together in reluctant defeat, he finally gave in and did as she asked.
"1, Dylan Wright, swear that | will cherish my life and, in times of danger, prioritize my grandmother and sister. If
| fail to do so, may | never stand again for the rest of my life."
"That's not how you're supposed to say it..."
"Isn't this punishment heavy enough for me?" Dylan interrupted before Suzy could argue further.
"Suzy, if you expectto repeat your exact words, you might as well give up. No matter what, I'll never say
something like that."
Before Suzy could respond, Dylan continued, "If someone asked you to make a vow using the person you care
about most, could you say it?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Why wouldn't I? As long as | keep my promises, it shouldn't matter," Suzy retorted stubbornly.
"You're refusing because you know you can't do it, right? Dylan, was everything | said to you just a waste of
time?"
After spending so much energy trying to convince him, she was frustrated that he still wouldn't listen.
Suzy thought for a moment and decided to give him an example. "Dylan, if your child-"
Before she could finish, Dylan interrupted with a mischievous grin. “Are you saying you want to givea child?"
"Did your English teacher actually work as a gym coach or something? If, | said if!" Suzy couldn't help rolling her
eyes, though she tried to resist.
"Well, it's not impossible..." Dylan's gaze dropped to her stomach, his tone teasing.
"Even though you haven't admitted that the woman from before was you, I'm sure it was. And if that was
ho's to say you aren't already
carrying my child now?"
Suzy's eyes flickered briefly before she replied, "Sorry to disappoint you, but that woman wasn't me. And even if
it were, there's no way | could be pregnant!"
"Why not?" Dylan frowned. "Do you not want to have children with me?"
"Why would | want to have kids with you?" Suzy scoffed.
“Like | said, there's not even a hint of a future between us yet, and you're already thinking that far ahead!"
Realizing the conversation was veering off track, Suzy quickly steered it back.
"Let's get back to the topic. If your son someday prioritizes the woman he loves over you, how would you feel?"
“I'd be happy, of course. Loving
someone means giving your whole heart. The person he'll spend the
rest of his life with is his wife, not his parents," Dylan replied, his tone calm and logical.
Suzy let out a dry laugh. "Wow, you're really an understanding parent. | just hope
you don't end up heartbroken, feeling like you raised him for nothing."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAs they spoke, Suzy's phone suddenly rang. It was Desmond calling.
Thinking it might be news about the woman, Suzy quickly answered. But the words on the other end left her
stunned.
"Mrs. Wright, something terrible has happened. Your father is in trouble!" Desmond's voice was tense.
"What happened?" Suzy's heart clenched as if gripped by an invisible hand.
After a brief pause, Desmond's heavy voice cthrough. "He set himself on fire."
