Chapter 371
Beatrice was hopping mad, shaking all over
Her and Mamie? Never in the same ballpark.
Unless Agnes and Mamie had some sort of powwow, there was no way Mamie would go out of her way
to ruffle her feathers.
Yet, Beatrice had no plans to hunt down Agnes
Agnes might have already smelled a rat after last night’s event
Just in time, it was Beatrice’s turn to be in the limelight the next day.
In the movie, she was playing the baddie.
She was a hot-shot newbie in the modeling world, having only one scene with Mamie, the lead.
Originally, the scene wasn’t set for immediate filming
But for some reason, the scene was fast-tracked.
The plot was at a model competition, Beatrice’s character secretly scattered pearls on stage, causing
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtthe lead to trip. But the lead cleverly dodged the bullet, resulting in her taking a tumble.
However, in the middle of filming, the director threw in an extra scene.
It was about the lead’s rise to power, to better portray the character’s transition from a pushover to a
tough cookie
This new scene was about the lead finding out about Beatrice’s character’s scheme and slapping her.
Beatrice didn’t overthink it
After all, every second on film was precious, having more screen time should have made her happy.
The initial scenes went smoothly until the slapping scene, where things took a turn Mamie, aiming for
realism, insisted on delivering a genuine slap. Beatrice sensed trouble but felt powerless due to her
minor role.
As expected, Mamie slapped Beatrice hard during the take, leaving her shocked. However, Mamie
“forgot” her lines, prompting a retake
This pattern repeated three times, and Beatrice knew Mamie was using the scene to get at her. The
crew noticed too, but the director was focused on achieving the perfect shot, inadvertently giving
Mamie more leeway.
This wasn’t the first time. During “Cinderella”, Mamie had exploited scenes to torment Agnes
Beatrice, who once took pleasure in Agnes’ distress, was now on the receiving end. But Beatrice
wasn’t one to take things lying down. After another of Mamie’s “errors”, she confronted the director,
“Sir, Mamie’s actions are clearly deliberate. I can’t figure out why she’s targeting me, but look at the
damage. If my mother sees this, she’ll be devastated”
Beatrice deliberately mentioned Laura, hoping the director would consider her mom and intervene
After all, Laura and the director were old pals who’ve known each other for decades, and she got this
role thanks to Laura.
Mamie was standing there, laughing at her foolishness.

If she hadn’t mentioned Laura, it’d have been alright. Once Laura was brought up, Hamish might get
ticked off.
Hamish had given Beatrice a role out of his regard for Laura.
But who knew, the moment Beatrice arrived on set, she started bragging about it
As if getting Hamish’s special favor was something to show off, as if getting a role through connections
was some sort of talent.
Later, the news even made it to the papers.
Hamish had always been known for his seriousness and impartiality in the film industry, a renowned
filmmaker.
He never dabbled in trades involving money, connections, or the body.
But now, his lifelong reputation was tarnished by this mother-daughter duo.
Even rumors started flying in the film circle, that Hamish’s favoritism towards the Pritchard family’s
daughters was because of a past romance with Laura
