She walked up the basement and away from the house before she finally answered the call. Lily had turned off the location service
on her phone, but she was still worried that someone might be able to track her.
"Hello?" As soon as the call connected, she heard a cry from the other end.
It wasn't just a sob. It sounded more like a wail—a heart-piercing howl. This startled her. The volwas so overwhelming that she
pulled the phone from her ear. The caller did not speak and continued to cry with no intention of stopping.
It was only after a few seconds before coherent words could be heard. "Lily, I...woo woo... |... woo woo..."
Lily rubbed her temples and tried to comfort Anastasia. "Okay, slow down. Don't worry. Let it all out before you speak."

‘What in the world happened?’
A part of Lily felt helpless. Anastasia was not usually like this. Something big must have happened for her to be crying like this.
Anastasia, with her temperament, would hold it in no matter how unhappy she was. However, she was now wailing into the phone.
"I've cried enough!" She muttered as she continued to sob.
"It's okay. I'll wait. Otherwise, you can callback later!" Lily sighed helplessly.
"Don't...don't..." Anastasia was afraid that Lily would hang up and quickly sniffed hard. Lily heard her clear her throat a few times
to try to speak.
Lily sighed again and waited patiently. Finally, Anastasia said, "Lily, my dad. He's changed."
"Huh?" Lily was confused by Anastasia's words. "What happened to your father?"
"Today, my uncle, aunt, and cousin all cto my house. My dad brought up my poisoning and said he'd seek justice forand
send my cousin to jail." She sobbed. It took her a lot to get this point across.
Lily nodded and urged, "Then?"
"Then, he changed his mind!" Saying this, Anastasia could not help but cry again.
Lily immediately yelled, "Don't cry yet!"

The unusually loud tone of Lily's voice shocked Anastasia enough that she stopped crying.
"What do you mean? What do you mean he changed his mind? Did your uncle and aunt persuade him?" Lily asked in confusion.
Anastasia shook her head. "No, it wasn't them. It was my cousin! | don't know what's going on. Initially, my father was furious. No
one could change his mind, not even me! Later, my cousin said she had a secret about the laboratory that she wanted to tell my
father in exchange for forgiveness."
Anastasia still found this to be too strange. ‘Why was my father so easily persuaded? What secret was so valuable?’
Ever since she was a child, she had seen countless people turned away, even when they cbearing gifts. Those who tried to
hand her gifts secretly were all thrown out by Cameron. With word of his reputation spreading, eventually nobody dared to go.
However, he seemed to have been persuaded this time. This was a shock to Anastasia.
