Chapter 1683
"Dr.Blanc, | don’t get it."
Edmund still tried to defend himself, but Lily interrupted him before he could finish.
"Is this necessary?" Edmund was quiet.
"Do you think you can lie your way out of this? Or do you think we would show up and expose you without proof?"
Lily felt a mix of emotions as she looked at Edmund. She had known Dr.Blanc and Edmund the longest and was most familiar with
them.
Although she and Edmund were far from good friends, they at least worked well together.
At first, she could feel he did not trust her, but she later discovered him to be a relatively objective person. She could accept
Edmund holding a prejudice against her just like Austin did, but it was difficult for her to believe he was a traitor.
Edmund suddenly laughed when hearing Lily's words and seeing Dr.Blanc’s expression. He tilted his head back and let out a long
sigh.

As if he was relieved of a heavy burden, he looked relaxed, and the smile on his face grew...creepy.
"I never expected this."
He shook his head and slowly lowered it.
Then he said quietly and puzzledly, "How did you find out? Since when? | know I've never made a mistake.l've worked hard and
have served Dr.Blanc well.Besides..."
Pausing, he cocked his head and peered at Lily.
"I haven't made things too difficult for you, have 1?"
"You didn’t give yourself away," Lily answered, "You did well.l didn’t suspect you even a bit in the beginning.Until Dashiell showed
up."
"Him?"
Edmund knitted his brow slightly and was baffled.
"What does this have to do with him?"
‘I'm not close to Dash, and I've even kept a distance from him.Why is Lily saying it's because of Dashiell?"
"Indeed, Dashiell looks most suspicious, but because of that, | have doubts."
At this point, Lily had nothing to hide.
"He's not on good terms withand is so prejudiced againstthat he secretly gave Debbie medicine that would worsen her
condition. All this is too conspicuous and out in the open.
"Not every Tom, Dick, and Harry could join our department. It’s even harder to infiltrate the place to serve another
organization.Dashiell is too dimwitted to be such a person."
"It's because he’s too...dimwitted?"
Edmund frowned in disbelief.
Dr.Blanc cleared his throat and added, "No, Lily is trying to say that such a person would not draw attention to himself.Okay, it's
my turn to ask you.Who the hell do you work for? Why are you doing this? What's the mission they gave you?"

"There's no point asking. We should all bear the responsibility for the choices we make.| failed, and | admit it!"
Edmund sighed.
"Don’t askanything.l won't answer."
"Edmund! Tell us while you still have the chance. You might not have any after this." Dr.Blanc said grimly.
Edmund could still explain to Dr.Blanc why he was doing this, but no one would listen if the military were to take him away.
Having been with Dr.Blanc for a long time, he naturally understood it.
Edmund smiled and raised his brow.
"Thank you, Dr.Blanc! | mean it.I've learned a lot working alongside you.However, | don’t need such a chancel"
Smiling, he spread his arms and tilted his head back.
"He's trying to kill himself!"
Lily screamed.
Alexander responded even faster, darted over, and seized Edmund's hand while grabbing his face.
