"But you can’t escape that terrible feeling, right?" Alexander knew how Mike felt. If someone had told him his children were dead,
he wouldn't be able to take it either. He couldn't even describe how anxious he was while awaiting the twin’s return.
"Don't worry, I'm just feeling a bit upset." Mike looked up. "But I'll never give up on finding Nicky, whether he's alive or not."
"You shouldn't." Alexander said, "She was probably just trying to provoke you. They've had Nick for quite stime. Why would
she suddenly tell you that? Why would they kill him now?"
Alexander didn't think it made sense.
'The fact that Nick has been held captive in the Royal Palace of Yudonia shows that they're only using him to control Mike. Why
would Rhea suddenly tell him that the boy is dead? Even if they were to kill Nick, there must be a reason.
‘Not to mention they wanted Mike to give them the invisibility potion formula. They'd be foolish to kill Nick now."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtMike nodded. He knew he couldn't trust Rhea entirely, and she was unable to show him his son's body. Yet, what she said had a
strong emotional impact on him.
"Yeah, man. Rhea's full of lies, and she's unusually cunning." Austin agreed with Alexander.
After sthought, he asked Mike, "Why would she suddenly bring that up?"
"l asked her to rescue my son, and she toldto drop it because Nicky is already..."
"Then she must've said it as an excuse not to help you," Austin said, "She was just trying to make you give up, okay? You mustn't
believe her. Even if she wasn't trying to lie to you, it might not be the truth unless you see the... you know."
He couldn't bear to mention the word "body."
"I shouldn't have let her get to me. Anyway, Nicky is still waiting forto rescue him. I'm not going to just give up because of
what that woman said."
After consoling Mike, Alexander thought of a more critical question. "Did you notice anything unusual when you were in there?"
"No," Mike recalled carefully and shook his head. "Everything seemed normal in the office area, and there was nothing unusual
about Rhea. If | have to point out something strange..."
"Yeah?"
"| think people there were different from the ones we saw last time," he said after a moment's hesitation, uncertain.
Alexander was puzzled. "What do you mean?"
"I'm talking about those working in the embassy. Most of them weren't the ones we saw last time."
Austin said, "That's normal, right? Since so many people work there, | doubt you'd remember all of them. Maybe the ones working
the other day changed shifts and weren't working today. Or perhaps you just aren't good with Yudonian faces."
"I thought so, too," Mike said, "But I'm pretty sure they weren't the sones."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHe had dealt with many Yudonians after living abroad for many years, and he was good with faces.
"Then they must've changed shifts or something," Austin said.
