Selena tapped her fingers on her phone, curiosity getting the better of her.

Lately, Selena had been so wrapped up in dealing with Ricky's mess that she had almost missed this.

Thankfully, the editor-in-chief had given her a heads-up, allowing her to brace herself emotionally. So, she felt pretty composed-until she stumbled upon a particular video clip from the interview.

The reporter asked, "Ms. Margot, you've made quite a nfor yourself. Can we get a peek into your love life?" Margot, with a bashful smile, replied, "I knew you wouldn't letoff the hook, but I don't mind sharing-I'm not single." Intriguingly, the reporter asked, "Such candor! Does this mean there's good news around the corner?" Margot nodded confidently. "Yes, we've been talking about getting married, probably early next year when spring arrives." That was just six months away.

Selena's grip tightened on her phone as memories of Everett forcing himself on her in the bathroom flashed back, making her stomach churn.

In the shower, she had scrubbed her neck raw to erase his marks, and now, she found herself absentmindedly rubbing the sspot again. Her skin, red and sore from the friction, barely registered as she wrestled with her emotions. Selena dimmed the lights, trying to drift into sleep, when her phone buzzed with a new message. It was from Margot: [Selena, saw the trending news? You said I'd never get an 'Ink & Insight' interview, but here I am.] Then canother message, a dagger to the heart: [Everett ensures I get whatever I want.] Selena wasn't surprised by Margot's gloating. Every mistress dreams of flaunting her success in front of the wife, hoping to push her to the edge and clear the path for their 'true love.' Tonight was just one disaster after another; first, Everett's vile behavior, and now Margot rubbing salt in the wound.

She refused to let it slide for the sake of her sanity.

Selena called her back.

As soon as Margot answered, Selena greeted her with a cool, confident smile. "Margot, you're so desperate for the Mrs. Bennett title. Why hasn't Everett given it to you?" en "You..." Margot stammered but quickly snapped back. "He will, very soon..." "Soon? How soon? In six months?" Selena leaned back against the headboard, a smirk playing on her lips, "There are plenty of socialites after Everett. Without me, you might not be the one. Wait until you're actually Mrs. Bennett to celebrate. And even if you do get there, it'll only be because I didn't want it anymore." Margot's breathing grew heavy, her anger audible even over the phone.

Selena felt a satisfying sense of relief. She hung up, set her phone aside, and no longer needed to coax herself to sleep. She lay down, letting sleep take over.

At Bennett Corporation, in the CEO's office.

Jawalked in, surprised to find Everett not behind his deskbut m e stouched on the couch, smoking.

He was still in yesterday's crumpled shirt, the tie discarded, several and buttons undone, and a shadow of stubble on his chin, giving him a rugged, worn-out look. Noticing the ashtray overflowing with cigarette butts, Jawondered if Everett had spent the whole night brooding.

This was a rare sight, and Jacouldn't resist. He whipped out his phone and started skapping pictur of Everett, eager not to miss the moment. Everett raised a hand, frowning, "What are you doing?" Jaime, chuckling, continued to snap photos from different angles. "It's not often we see Mr. Bennett wallowing in love's woes. This is definitely one for the archives!"
