Clara remembered how she had pulled Serenity aside to ask her the question, and she had received
an affirmative answer
“Yes, Clare, he is Jackson Valor of the Valor Group, the man you thought he was.”
Okay, so that was the answer Serenity had given her. Still, it felt as if her mind had been struck by
waves of thunder and lightning, and she just could not process what was happening right now.
Was her delivery employee really Jackson Valor’s girlfriend? Who would ever believe her if she told
them that?!
11 was even more surreal when Serenity said she still had some orders to deliver and Jackson replied,
“Okay, then I’ll just wait for you right bere. I’m free for the rest of the day, anyway.”
And so, as Serenity went out to make the deliveries, Jackson stayed there.. well, reading a book!

But as she observed the interaction between these two, she had a feeling that it had to be real. At the
very least, the way Jackson Treated Serenity was obviously full of affection even to an outsider like her.
Seeing that Jackson had finished his cup of coffee, Clara went up to him and asked, “Would you like to
order something else, Mr. Valor?”
“Just a glass of water, please.”
And so, Clara brought Jackson a glass of water as he had requested, and she was about to leave the
table when he told her, Wait.”
“Do you need anything else?” she asked.
“Take a seat,” Jackson pointed at the empty chair opposite him. “I’ve got something to discuss with
you.”
Clara instantly felt uneasy, but she still pulled out the chair and sat down.
“Serenity insisted on supporting herself,” he said, his eyes fixed on Clara with a hint of a dark gleam,
“so I won’t stop her. Besides, she seems to have taken a liking to you and your son and is pretty
pleased with her job right now. If it’s something that she wants to continue doing, I’ll just let her do it All
I want is for her to be happy.‘
Clara was startled. The immense fear she felt now grew stronger and clearer.
“Both my son and I…” she told him, “like Serenity very much too.”
“That’s good, then,” Jackson calmly replied. If you’re in any kind of trouble, I don’t mind helping you, but
I hope that you remain honest and sincere with Serenity and do not try to use her. If you ever do such a
thing, then don’t blame me for what I might do to you.”

But before Clara could finish her sentence, he interjected, “Wilson Birch must’ve been searching for
you all these years, but you outsmarted him by bribing the prison guards and found a way to change
your information in the household registry. He certainly won’t be able to find you now without using
some special measures.”
Clara was so shocked she almost sprung up from her seat.
He… He knew! In fact, he could not possibly know these things had he not been Investigating her
background.
She asked him with rounded eyes, “Have you been… Investigating me?”
“Yes,” he answered. “Since Serenity wants to work with you, I naturally had to investigate everyone in
this restaurant just to be safe, but she doesn’t know about all these things, and I have no desire for her
to know them either.”
Clara understood that Jackson was clearly warning her. Did Serenity have any idea that this man had
been doing all these things behind her back just to protect ser?
