Chapter 161: Abnormalities Alpha Theron's POV I peered down at my precious daughter, who was sleeping peacefully on her bed. She doesn't look as pale as she had before. Color had finally formed on her lips, and her cheeks were painted.
Seeing her healthy, rosy complexion, I smiled and felt more relieved. Asha had toldthat Astrid was getting better and better each day.
Astrid is a fighter who refuses to succumb to her defeat; soon enough, she's going to wake up soon, and I want to be the first thing she sees when she wakes up.
Until now, I still have no idea how I will explain that she lost her wolf when she woke up.
As a werewolf, losing your wolf does not mean becoming an average human. Our wolves and humans are one. When you lose your other half, it would literally feel like losing something that has been a considerable part of your life. It's like half of your soul torn away from you, lost forever. A half of your life gone missing.
Astrid had already gone through a lot of things. She lost her mate and husband, she lost her son, and then she lost her wolf.
I'm afraid that this would be the last blow. I want to help her, to make her feel that even if she has lost everything, she still haswith her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHowever, I know that wouldn't help her. Astrid hates me, and I know she blamesfor what happened to her mother and what happened to her life.
I am the root cause of all of this. It was I who destroyed everything.
I sat at the edge of Astrid's bed, my brow creased with worry when her rhythmic breaths suddenly turned into labored breaths.
"Astrid," I called out her nas I stood up, my eyes wide with panic.
Suddenly, her fingers began to twitch, her nails elongated into sharp, deadly claws.
My eyes widened in stunned disbelief as I leaned forward, my heart pounding in my chest. What was happening to my daughter? Astrid's skin grew taut, her delicate features hardening and shifting before my very eyes. A low guttural growl rumbled in her throat, sending a chill down my spine. This was no longer my Astrid - this was her wolf.
I couldn't understand. I thought her wolf was already dead. What is this beast that is lurking within her? Tentatively, I reached out a trembling hand. "Astrid?" I whispered, my voice laced with fear and a desperate plea. Her eyelids snapped open, and I recoiled at the sight of her eyes - no longer the warm brown I knew but a piercing predatory yellow. She let out a feral snarl, her body tensing as if ready to pounce.
I stood paralyzed as the creature beforethreatened to break free from its slumbering prison.
Astrid looked atwith a murderous gaze, but at the stime, she was not the one looking at me. Her yellow irises looked fierce and wild, I could only take a few steps back not knowing how could caff Astrid back.
I stopped when my back had finally reached the wall. I placed my arms firmly to my sides, even thought was capable of protecting myself as a powerful Alpha. I couldn't bring myself to hurt my daughter I would rather get hurt than hurt her. I stared into Astrid's eyes, facing her head-on, hoping that my strong resolve could call her back to her senses.
However, Astrid was nowhere to be reached. Just when Astrid was about to give her a powerful blow, my eyes snapped toward the door, and it suddenly swung open. Before Astrid could do any harm to me, my son Andros arrived just on time. He barged into the room with something in his hand.
Before I could react to his arrival, he suddenly rushed behind Astrid and subdued her from behind.
Astrid was caught in surprise, not expecting that someone would suddenly join us.
She tried to struggle, but it was too late. I watched as she found her limbs growing heavy and her consciousness slipping away Astrid's movements grew sluggish, then ceased altogether.
"Andros, what did you do?" I demanded as I caught Astrid in my arms before she could drop to the floor.
"It's just a sedative, dad. She was out of control, I had to do something," Andros answered as he held up the empty syringe in his hand.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmI looked down at Astrid, who had slipped away from her consciousness again. I was waiting for her to wake up, but I didn't expect that something else would appear.
"What happened?" Andros asked me. "I thought her wolf is dead. What was that?" I turned my gaze back to Andros when I heard his question. "Doctor Smith must have made a mistake," | answered him.
"Call him here immediately and tell him everything that happened," I commanded my son as I held Astrid close in my arms.
Andros didn't have to be told twice. He rushed out of the room without any suspicions. Once he was gone, the fear and worry that I'd been holding back finally flooded my expression.
When I made my interrogation to know what really calen Astrid was staying in the Emberwood Pack, everyone toldthe sthing. They said they witnessed her being controlled by a wild and feral wolf. No one could subdue her except for Killian.
I knew then that something was wrong when I heard that. Astrid is not normal have a lot of questions about her, especially about her blood.
I thought that was the only thing strange about her, but this... This is more dangerous as it is strange.
Beta Alek had just left to do the task that I gave him, so until now, I still have no answers.
I wonder what answer he would givewhen that tcomes.
