Chapter 269: Drugged Astrid's POV "It wasn't real," Killian insisted, his voice raw with desperation. "None of it was real." I stared at him, disbelief burning throughlike an unstoppable fire. His words "none of it was real" - echoed in my head, but I couldn't bring myself to believe him.

Not this time. Not after everything. He couldn't just say it wasn't real and expect the pain to disappear.

I scoffed, my jaw tightening as the anger simmered just beneath the surface, ready to spill over. "None of it was real?" I repeated, my voice thick with frustration, laced with disbelief. "What, Killian? The dinner? The marriage? You can't just pretend it doesn't exist because you suddenly feel guilty!" It was always the swith him. Killian, always trying to backtrack, always trying to explain things away as if a few desperate words could fix everything.

As if all the hurt he'd caused could vanish the moment he decided to acknowledge it. He didn't get to rewrite our history just because he couldn't face the consequences.

He opened his mouth to respond, but something shifted in him. His expression darkened, his eyes clouding over with an intensity I hadn't seen before.

Before I could even process what was happening, he moved towardwith a sudden force, trappingagainst the wall with his arms.

I gasped in shock, my body tensing as his face cdangerously close to mine. His hand reached out as if he wanted to pullcloser, but there was nothing tender or gentle in his touch.

The desperation was gone, replaced by something raw-hungry. His lips hovered too close to mine, his breath warm and ragged against my skin.

"Killian?" I whispered, my voice trembling as I struggled to make sense of what was happening.

This wasn't like him- "or was it"? My heart raced at our proximity, confusion and fear swirling inside me. What on earth was he doing? Then it hit me, the sharp, unmistakable scent of him. It was Killian, but not in the way I knew.

His familiar smell, the one that had once broughtcomfort, was overwhelmed by something darker. There was a heaviness to it, an unnatural edge that flooded my senses.

Immediately, I knew.

"Killian, you were drugged," I breathed, the realization slamming into me.

My voice barely steadied as I pushed against his chest, trying to get away from the heat of him, but his body was rigid, his eyes burning with that unsettling intensity.

This is the second the has been drugged.

The first time, I'd been naive-stupid, even. I had let it happen. I allowed him to do whatever he wanted thinking that I was just fulfilling my duty as his wife - a duty I should have fulfilled long ago.

The drug had overtaken him, filled him with the suncontrolled desire, and I helped him satiate it. But I won't do that again this time. I wouldn't let it happen again.

"Killian, snap out of it!" I pushed harder, my hands trembling as I forced him away from me, but it only seemed to fuel the need in his eyes.

He leaned in further, trying to close the gap between us, his breathing harsh and uneven.

His hand found my waist, pullingcloser, and I could feel the heat radiating off him in waves.

I held my ground, preparing myself. I wasn't that girl anymore. I wouldn't make the sstupid mistake.

His grip tightened, I've been biding my time, waiting for my chance to strike. Killian is way stronger thanand he has larger build compared to me. I wouldn't win if I fought head on against him.

Without hesitation, I reached for the small pressure point on his neck. It was a move Drystan had taughtwhen I was still his student.

It is a way to incapacitate someone quickly if ever needed to. I pressed hard, my fingers finding the right spot, and for a moment, Killian's body stiffened, his grip onfaltering. en Killian is an Alpha wolf, his wolf was strong enough to fight against the drowsiness caused by what I did. "Don't do this," I whispered, my voice breaking, though I couldn't tell if I was saying it for him or for myself.

He tried to fight it, his body trembling with effort, but the drug had dulled his senses enough for the pressure point to work.

His eyes, still dark with lust and confusion, began to flutter shytm Slowly, his body gave way, his knees buckling as he collapsed into unconsciousness. I stumbled back, gasping for breath, my heart pounding as I stared at his crumpled form on the floor.

I leaned against the wall, my mind racing as the weight of the situation settled over me.

This couldn't get out. No one could know. If anyone found out that Killian had been drugged, there would be an uproar. What happened to him could be the sas a failed assassination attempt.

But at the stime, I can't just leave Killian here on the floor. He also needs medical attention.

I had to think. Fast.

My mind raced, thinking of who I could trust. Beta Ryder was my first thought, but I quickly discarded the idea. He is too by the book.

If he knew what had happened, he wouldn't stop at helping Killian, he would conduct an investigation and follow through the protocol, and the situation would spiral out of control. He would mean well, but he would turn it into a big deal, exactly what I didn't want.

Then it ctothat girl! Killian's one and only trusted attendant. She'd been with him for years, always discreet, always loyal.

She knew how to handle things quietly and she wouldn't ask m unnecessary questions. If anyone could help without this turning into a disaster, it was her.
