Chapter 252 Ex–Husband’s Approval

Imogen’s silence fueled Troy’s anger further. His expression grew even gloomier. “I was right,

wasn’t I?”

Imogen cast her eyes downward and struggled to explain. Her tone was hesitant as she spoke, “Well,

it’s not exactly… It’s just that…”

Troy was waiting for her to answer. He had never thought of her preference for Erik.

“What is it?” He ground his teeth and repeated.

Imogen felt uneasy. However, she remained defiant, stared at Troy, and said, “It’s nothing. You guessed

it right. I prefer him. He confessed to me, and I agreed. It’s as simple as that. Do I have to consider my

ex–husband’s feelings while I’m single and dating?”

Troy continued to glare at Imogen. His anger was escalating.

He appeared to have completely lost his temper. Suddenly, Troy forcefully pulled the covers away,

exposing Imogen’s naked form. A cunning smile slowly formed on his lips. “You look so beautiful. Do

you think Erik will break

up with

you if I send him a photo of you like this?”

Imogen immediately used her hand to cover her body. She attempted to reclaim the covers but failed./

She stared at Troy in disbelief. Her eyes filled with resentment. “Troy, you’re shameless!”

“Since you’re calling me shameless, I might as well live up to the accusation, right?” Troy retorted.

Imogen’s expression turned bewildered. All of a sudden, Troy’s attractive face drew near to hers. He

leaned in for a passionate kiss, intense with nibbling and sucking.

Imogen tried to resist, but her hands were effortlessly held above her head, rendering her unable to

resist as his other hand explored her gentle contours.

“Mmm…”

Troy’s violent kiss silenced Imogen’s protests. Her breathing became rapid. She struggled to breathe

as she couldn’t use her mouth to help with breathing.

Imogen started gasping for air. Her brain became hazy, and everything seemed blank.

Troy sensed that Imogen had stopped struggling. He let go of her lips and looked at her. She looked

pale, her breathing was weak, her pupils dilated, and she seemed on the brink of passing

out.

Alarmed, he felt his heart tighten. He immediately grasped her chin and started giving her mouth–to–

mouth resuscitation.

After several attempts, Imogen slowly regained her senses. She clutched her chest and gasped for air.

“Cough… Cough…”

Troy helped her settle under the covers. He propped her with pillows against her back, then whispered,

“Eat your breakfast and take some cold medicine afterward.”

Imogen shook her head and gave him a disdainful look. “I won’t eat. Either release me or let me

starve.”

She was determined to resist him to the end.

Troy chuckled and nodded approvingly. “Well done, Imogen. You know I care for Convinced that I can’t

bear to harm you, aren’t you?”

you,

don’t you?

Imogen lowered her gaze. “You don’t have to be concerned.”

Deep down, she understood that he wouldn’t let her starve.

His actions likely resulted from seeing Erik’s Instagram post last night and suddenly losing control.

Of course, Imogen wouldn’t try to comfort Troy even if she didn’t like Erik, as it would only complicate

things.

If dating Erik could make Troy let go, it would be an unexpected blessing.

Troy was left speechless with anger.

He was being ridiculous.

It had been over a month since their divorce. Imogen was already someone else’s girlfriend, but he still

couldn’t let her go.

He had even gone as far as to knock her out and undress her in his bed, but he dared not go any

further, fearing her reaction when she woke up.

Troy ran a hand through his hair in frustration. “Imogen, you win. Eat your meal, and I’ll let you leave

once your cold is better.”

“Why wait until I’m better from the cold? Can’t you let me go today?”

“I’m afraid your fever might come back. I’ll have you stay here with Sue taking care of you. It’s like

keeping a tiger at bay!”

Imogen sighed.

She felt like a trapped animal.

“You better keep your word. Now, bring me my clothes.”

Troy fetched the clothes. He returned with pajamas designed for indoor use, unsuitable for the cold

outside the heated villa.

Imogen accepted the pajamas. Her expression turned sour when she noticed Troy’s intense gaze.

“Leave the room.”

“It’s not as if I haven’t seen you before,” Troy remarked.

His gaze briefly swept over a specific area before he turned and exited the room.

Imogen changed into her clothes and began to have breakfast.

She was pretty hungry. Sue’s cooking suited her taste, so she quickly finished her meal.

Imogen carried her tray downstairs and saw Grace was sitting at the dining table. Grace waved

excitedly when she saw Imogen. “Imogen!”

“Grace, eat your breakfast properly. I’m not feeling well, so I can’t play with you right now,” Imogen said

as she took the tray to the kitchen, where Sue was already cleaning the dishes. She set down the tray

and casually asked, “Sue, is your grandson feeling better now?”

“He’s improved a lot and should recover completely in a few more days.”

“That’s good,” Imogen replied while walking toward the exit, “You’ve got your hands full. I’ll head

out now.”

“Wait, Mrs. Marshall!” Sue called after her.

“You’ve forgotten I’m no longer Mrs. Marshall.”

“You’ll forever be Mrs. Marshall to me. Last night, your fever spiked to 101.48 degrees Fahrenheit.

Mr. Marshall stayed by your side throughout the night. He got you medicine and tended to you, not

resting until your fever broke. Sometimes, outsiders have a clearer view. Mr. Marshall cares deeply for

you. I hope Mrs. Marshall will consider giving him another chance.”

“Sue, I appreciate what he did for me, but I already have a boyfriend.”

Sue looked utterly surprised. “You have… a boyfriend?”

Wasn’t it too fast?

A little over a month ago, Imogen was still mourning the loss of her child. How could she already have

a boyfriend?

“Yes,” Imogen confirmed.

Imogen’s mind began to wander as she left the dining room.

She hadn’t been aware of what happened last night. She had been in a daze. It turned out Troy had

stayed with her all night.

Imogen’s mind was a whirlwind of emotions as she reminisced. There were moments when she fell ill

with a cold, fever, or headache when they were married. Troy had always been caring and considerate.

So, she had always thought they had some feelings for each other.

Later, reality dealt her a heavy blow.

“Imogen.”

Noting her lack of response, Troy walked straight toward the staircase, then called out again, “Imogen?

Come over here and take your medicine.”

Imogen returned to her senses and saw Troy had somehow appeared in the living room. She changed

her course and headed to the sofa. “What did you just say?”

“Come over and take your medicine. It’s cold medicine,” Troy said as he had already set the medicine

on the table, accompanied by a glass of water.

Imogen noticed that the medicine on the table wasn’t in individual boxes but in small, individually

wrapped packets. They were neatly wrapped in white paper, each containing a pre–measured dose of

cold medicine.

Imogen was familiar with this kind of medicine packaging from childhood when she lived in the

countryside with her grandparents. Whenever she got sick, her grandfather would take her to the

village health center to get medicine. At that time, it was common for doctors to prepare custom

prescriptions, which was very effective.

Nowadays, over–the–counter cold medicine typically came in boxed packages, and it was rare to find a

pharmacy that still prepared custom prescriptions.

The small, individually wrapped medicine packets on the table weren’t part of a regular medicine

cabinet but something Troy had just fetched from the pharmacy with a doctor’s prescription. Imogen sat

down on the sofa and opened one of the paper packets. She took a sip from the glass of water, noting

that it was at just the right temperature, likely poured by Troy a little while ago. Imogen’s nose tingled

as she sat there. Her eyes began to turn red. It could have been because she thought of her

grandfather, or perhaps she didn’t feel well, and emotions tend to intensify during such moments.

She widened her eyes and casually asked Troy, “Aren’t you going to the hospital for an IV?”

“I’m going soon.”

“Oh, by the way, give me my phone.”

“I won’t. Rest well at home.”

“Stubborn,” Imogen muttered under her breath.

Troy had touched her heart in a way she hadn’t expected.
