Chapter 1425
"Ree, what are you talking about? I told you I was just trying to please Tasia and why. If it weren’t for
your uncle, our family-”
"If it weren't for Cameron Rollins, we would still be living in poverty and hunger?" Rhea said impatiently
and picked her ear. "I don't want to listen to these things. I've heard them enough. If you want to curry
his favor and live off him, that's your business. I, Rhea Moore, don't need him!"
"Ree, you shouldn't say that." Maria wanted to say something else, but seeing Rhea's impatient
expression, she gave up. "Okay, I'll stop talking! Still, you've grown up and should understand why I did
it, shouldn't you? Stop acting like a child."
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtShe spoke soothingly, trying hard to patch things up with her daughter.
Rhea pulled a long face and did not reply. She sat at the desk and touched the pen holder gently and
thoughtfully.
Maria felt gloomy and helpless looking at Rhea. She did not know how to communicate or bond with
her daughter.
"Ree, you've been so busy and mustn't have had anything to eat. Please eat. I'll get the maids to redo
your breakfast if you don't like it. After you eat some food, you'll feel better if you go to sleep," she
persuaded.
Rhea stared at the pen holder and asked blandly, "Is there anything else?"
In other words, she wanted her mother to leave her alone and not waste her time.
Maria pursed her lips and felt somewhat embarrassed. "No, nothing. I’ll leave you alone then."
She got up, paused, and looked hopefully at Rhea as if waiting for her daughter to ask her to stay.
However, Rhea did not even look at her mother and focused only on the pen holder in her hand.
Saddened, Maria lowered her gaze in disappointment and turned to leave. Just as she stepped out the
door, she heard a voice coming from behind her, "Wait!"
"I'm still here!" Maria happily turned around and threw Rhea an expectant look.
'I know Ree still loves me, doesn’t she?'
However, Rhea merely lifted her gaze without a trace of feelings and peered quietly at her mother.
"How's Anastasia's illness?"
Maria was disappointed for a moment and caught herself before jabbering, "She's in better spirits than

she doesn't let me go there often either."
'The miracle doctor's prescription seems to work, doesn’t it? They don't call him a miracle doctor for
nothing!" Maria felt she had found the right person, as Austin was indeed something else.
'Those lousy doctors failed to determine that Tasia had gotten poisoned. They even wasted so much of
our time over the years. I should've sought Austin’s help earlier.
Anyway, I'm not too late. Ron is now indebted to us, and he'll undoubtedly award us with the project.
'It's good that the problem has dragged on for so long. The fact that it has taken so long to cure Tasia
makes my effort even more meaningful, and Cameron will forever be indebted to us!’
With those thoughts in mind, Maria felt so pleased with herself that she smiled.
'That miracle doctor? What can he accomplish?" Rhea snorted dismissively.
