Chapter 1453
The light came in through the door, and Austin entered Thompson's sight.
'You!" Thompson widened his eyes, taken aback as he was not expecting someone to hide in the room.
"Professor Thompson, it's me," Austin whispered and put his finger to his lips, signaling Thompson to
be quiet. He feared Rhea would hearthem, even though she had left a while ago. He knew he would be
in deep sh*t if Rhea returned.
"Aus...tin?" Fortunately, Thompson softened his voice, and it did not look like he wanted to make this a
big issue.
"Professor Thompson, it's me!" Austin repeated himself, but with a different tone and meaning this time.
"You..." Thompson sighed as he looked outside before heading into the room, quickly closing and
locking the door after him. While he approached Austin, he asked, "Why are you here?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"I..." Austin let out a bitter smile.
'Why am I here? D*mn it! That's what I'd like to know as well! I heard something I shouldn’t have!'
Austin patted his chest and finally remembered the item he was holding. " It's this. I managed to create
a medicine that could calm patients down. I came here to share the good news with you!”
He took a few steps to show he was telling the truth. Upon hearing that, Thompson's eyes lit up, but
when he reached for the test tube, he curled his fingers back, sighing.
'So what if he succeeded? Everything is far from what I initially wanted, and it is only getting further. It's
not even an exaggeration to say it's
moving in the opposite direction.’
"Professor Thompson, I'm sorry! I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on your conversation on purpose, but
could you explain to me what you two were talking about earlier? Why did you say it would harm other
people? Aren’t we doing this to save lives and make the patients feel less pain? Why would it be
harmful to them?"
Since Austin got caught, he might as well be direct about it since Thompson did not look like he
intended to harm him. It was a fact that Austin had heard their conversation, and there was no running
away from that.
However, Thompson just turned his back to Austin and said nothing.
Seeing that, Austin asked again, "Professor Thompson, what is this research really for? Also, who is
the superior you two mentioned? Is he an investor? Even if he’s an investor, he can't request that we
harm other people! How did Rhea have the guts to talk to you like that? She was blatantly threatening
you earlier!"
"Stay out of this and pretend you heard nothing." Thompson waved his hand and used the other to hold
the table, looking exhausted.
"I would do that if I hadn't heard the conversation, but I did, and I can’t pretend to know nothing now!
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBoth of us graduated from medical school, and no matter our specialization, we have the same goal-to
save lives! How can we do anything to harm the people?” Austin was emotional at this point. "They...
Did they threaten you with something?"
'That's not it." Thompson still refused to face Austin. His back was bent, and he appeared to have aged
so much over the past few weeks.
"Austin, stay out of this! You weren't here today, and I didn’t see you either. Listen to me! Head home
and rest now. You can take a break for the time being. There's not much to do here these days,"
Thompson said.
He had his back to Austin the entire time while his hands gripped the table tightly as if he would fall if
he loosened his grip by the slightest bit.
"Professor Thompson, let's report this to the cops!” Austin suggested it out of the blue.
