Eloise did not expect Joseph to pull such a stunt. She was so dumbfounded that she could barely say a thing. By the

“Miss...” The housekeeper quickly brought the first aid kit over as she noticed Eloise’s burnt hand. However, before she

could touch Eloise, Eloise stood up abruptly and swept everything on the table to the ground in anger.

That was the sound of the teacup as it hit the floor, glass shards flying everywhere. The housekeeper was too afraid to

speak or move, and she could only stand there, not knowing how to react.

Arianna jumped in surprise before telling the housekeeper gently, “ Go clean up the glass shard, and you can leave.”

The housekeeper was relieved to receive instructions and immediately moved to clean the glass

shards.

Arianna sat next to Eloise and removed an ointment tube from the first-aid kit. She gently took her

mother's hand and applied ointment to her scalded area. “Mom, please don’t be angry,” she advised.

“How could I not be?! ” Eloise struggled angrily to break free from Arianna’s grip, but she could not. So,

she continued allowing Arianna to rub the ointment on her wound.

Since Eloise had already started, she continued to vent her frustration, “Look at your dad! His heart is

not even at home now.

He doesn’t even inform us if he’s not coming back for dinner. He barely speaks to me anymore! How

could he do this to me after all I’ve done for his family?! When I first got married into the family, he was

just a useless second son of the Tanner family.

“He couldn’t do anything, and now he thinks he can run the company. All these years, your uncle only

gave your dad a vacant position. Aside from owning some company shares, he had no authority! If it

weren’t for me helping him, do you think we would be able to own what we have today?! ”

Arianna knew her mother needed somewhere to vent her anger, so she chose not to interrupt and

listened. She knew her mother wanted someone to hear her out and not give her advice on dealing

with her problems.

“Yet, he dares to stop me from attending tomorrow's auction event! Why? Is he afraid that I will spend

all his money?!” Eloise yelled in frustration.

Arianna gently caressed her mother’s hand and said, “M-Maybe that wasn’t what he meant.”

“Then what did he mean by that?! Don’t tell me he meant it as goodwill?” Eloise turned her head and noticed the

housekeeper still sweeping the shattered glass. She instructed in annoyance, “ That’s enough! Stop sweeping and just

leave!”

The housekeeper immediately stopped and left in a hurry.

Arianna placed the ointment tube back into the kit and wiped her hands with a wet tissue. “Mom, just like what dad

said, it’s not like you’ve never been to an event like that. Moreover, dad has always brought you along with him, right?”

“Of course!” Eloise replied, “Aside from those smaller auction events that your dad refused to attend. He would usually

bring me along with him. If he chose not to bring me, who else would he bring along! ” Eloise’s face changed as she

realized who he had planned to bring along.

“You’re saying that...” Arianna nodded, “I think that was what dad meant.”
