Chapter 112

Harvey got back to the apartment.

He looked like he was down in the dumps, and Eloise caught his mood. She asked softly, "What's up?"

But he just looked at her in silence.

Eloise was all dolled up in a new outfit. She was sporting a dark, lacy long dress with a light-colored long coat

over it. Her light brown hair was draped around her waist, making her look gorgeous and elegant.

Harvey gestured for her to cover. He put his hand on her shoulder and murmured. "I called Michelle and

learned that your birthday was a few days ago. Can | throw you a belated birthday party on Saturday?"

Eloise was over the moon.

Harvey lifted his head, gave her a peck, and then asked, "So, can you givea lift to the office?"

Eloise figured he was feeling blue. She was no fool, and she figured it had to do with whoever was on his mind.

But instead of asking directly, she wrapped her arms around his neck and cooed. "As long as you wantto, |

can drive you to work every day."

Harvey cracked a smile.

He gave her a lazy pat and then headed into the dressing room to change.

Eloise went over to the piano and gently touched the keys.

Harvey was a good lover, but definitely not husband material.

He may spoil her, but he would never truly love her.

Eloise was glad she had wised up early. Otherwise, she would've fallen head over heels for him and straight-up

told him she wanted to be with him forever.

She could guess his response.

"Eloise..."

Harvey cout and found her daydreaming.

After seeing Harvey all dressed to the nines, Eloise chuckled. "Attorney Horigan, you're looking so dapper today!"

Harvey responded with a gentle smile.

On the way to the office, neither of them said a word until Harvey got out of the

car. He muttered, "I might be swamped for a while."

"I know... you're always busy." Eloise understood.

Harvey thought for a moment and then gave her a kiss.

Eloise touched the steering wheel and joked, "We've only been living together for

a few days, Harvey. Why do we already feel like an old married couple? Even the kisses have becso bland."

Actually, Harvey was feeling pretty low, but her words perked him up.

He looked at her and chuckled gently. "Just hang tight. After | wrap up my work, you can havehowever you

want!"

Eloise blushed at his words and replied shyly, "Alright. | got it."

After Harvey got out of the car and went into the office, Eloise sat in the car deep in thought. It looked like

whoever was important in Harvey's life was really back.

Eloise didn't dwell on it too much.

She arranged to meet Vanessa at a coffee shop. Vanessa cin like she was in a hurry. As she took off her

sunglasses, she complained, "It's so hot in here."

She downed an iced coffee in one gulp.

"That really hit the spot!" Vanessa leaned back in her chair and started chatting with Eloise about leasing office

space.

Eloise pushed a lease agreement towards her.

"I think you'll find this contract more refreshing than a whole cup of iced coffee." Skeptically, Vanessa picked up

the agreement and was instantly flabbergasted. Holy cow! Was this for real?

A newly renovated 400-square-meter proffice space for only 50,000 dollars a year?!

After reading it, Vanessa hugged Eloise tight. "Eloise, you're amazing! You must've put in a lot of effort to get this

contract, right?"

Despite being single, Vanessa loved imagining the love story between Eloise and Harvey. She thought their story

was quite intriguing.

Feeling a little awkward, Eloise adjusted her hair and said, "Actually, | didn't do much. He offered it to me."

Vanessa expressed her satisfaction.

"Women need to look out for themselves. If you're with him aimlessly and he doesn't make any promises, you

might end up getting the short end of the stick. So it's always good to have sconcrete returns. Well, | owe

you one for this."

Vanessa, being a straightforward person, thought for a moment and decided to give Eloise a 40% stake.

Eloise found it fair.

The two enjoyed their coffee and chatted for a while.

Vanessa had recently heard sgossip about Veronica. Knowing that Eloise was close to Veronica, she gave

her a heads-up. "How's Veronica doing recently? Hasn't her husband turned over a new leaf? Why did | see him

with Ravenna at a hotel last night?"

Eloise was stunned.

She stayed silent for a moment, then slowly stirred her coffee. "Maybe Veronica doesn't know about this."

Knowing she was an outsider in this matter, Vanessa didn't say more.

But Eloise took it to heart.

After getting into the car, she called Veronica. Just as she was about to bring up

the matter, Veronica took the initiative. "Eloise, you want to ask about Gunner and Ravenna, right?"

Eloise didn't know how to respond and sighed softly.

Veronica's voice was tense; you could even say it was trembling.

"I have no choice. | know he's not going to change, but | love him... and over the years, we've been living off

him. Eloise, | know you look down on me, but... please don't persuadeto divorce him. | can't divorce him! As

long as he doesn't bring bad people home, I'll turn a blind eye to him."

At this point, Eloise really couldn't persuade her anymore.

But Veronica was her best friend, and she couldn't just sit back and do nothing.

She asked Veronica out for karaoke and drinks.

Veronica was totally wasted, laughing and crying at the stime, looking a bit worn out. "Eloise, why are we so

unlucky?" She slurred. "Both our men got snatched by that vixen, Ravenna. What's so special about her? We're

way hotter than her, yet the guys are all over her! Do you think it's because she's always practicing her flirting

skills?"

Eloise pondered and figured it might be the case.

Veronica continued her tirade. "She always attracts people who fall for her tricks!"

Veronica slumped on the table, babbling nonsense. "She can only fool that dope, Gunner! Eloise, did you know

that when Ravenna tried to seduce Max last time, she got beaten up badly? And that tshe tried to charm

Harvey, he barely gave her a second look. Only that fool Gunner... only that fool cares about her!"

Finally, Veronica hugged the toilet bowl, hurling out all the alcohol she had consumed.

When she was a bit sober, Eloise softly told her. "Veronica, you should divorce him."

Veronica was only 24; she was young and gorgeous, so she deserved better than Gunner. She shouldn't waste

her life on him. Cutting her losses soon and focusing on her career or finding a better man would be much better

for her than trailing behind him pitifully.

Veronica was taken aback. She whispered. "I want to divorce him too! But | can't stand the thought that I've been

with him for so many years and, in the end, lost to

a shameless woman."

Eloise felt despondent.

She called Gunner to pick Veronica up.

To her surprise, Gunner, although polite on the phone, refused to come.

"Eloise, don't meddle in our affairs! | admit | was wrong. | betrayed her, but Veronica has her own issues, right?

Do you think any man can tolerate her temper?"

Eloise was livid. She retorted coldly. "If you can't stand her, divorce her! Then you can screw around with

whoever you want. Why do you have to be such a jerk and make everyone feel disgusted? Gunner, we don't

want to share you, the 'public toilet.""

Gunner was dumbstruck as he stared at his phone.

Was this really Eloise?

Was her temper even worse than his wife's? Why was she so fired up? Did she just call him a "public toilet"?

What on earth did Harvey see in her?

It just so happened that Gunner was at a dinner party, and Harvey was there too.

Others thought it was Gunner's wife checking on him through text, so they teased him. "Is Veronica giving you a

hard tagain?"

Gunner, drunk, looked at Harvey and smiled. "Attorney Horigan, your wife is the one givinga hard time; she

just calleda 'public toilet." Could you teach her smanners?"
