Chapter 123
Eloise was lying quietly on the snow-white pillow.
Probably because of her illness, her body and voice becnoticeably soft. "I don't wanna go to the hospital."
She felt like she'd die of embarrassment if she had to go to the hospital for this.
Harvey gently brushed his hand over her face, then picked up his phone from the bedside table and dialed a
number.
"Denise, geta doctor."
"Sure. We're at room 3601."
"No, it's not me. Eloise is sick."
Denise on the other end of the phone was stunned, not knowing how to react.
Why weren't they at hbut at a hotel?
The behavior of Harvey took him by surprise.
Denise, being an old hand in the business, quickly got in touch with a reliable family doctor and personally
accompanied him.
When they arrived at the hotel room, Harvey greeted them at the door.
Before the doctor could say anything, Harvey frowned and asked. "Why is it a male doctor?"
Denise was taken aback. Harvey hadn't specified if he wanted a male or female doctor.
Harvey didn't let them in. "Get a female doctor, preferably experienced, and... she should be able to keep a
secret."
He knew Eloise was very conscious of her image.
Denise, being sharp, quickly switched to a well-known gynecologist in the city, who was indeed competent. She
prescribed soral medication, sparing Eloise the IV drip.
By noon, Eloise's fever had subsided.
But her energy was greatly drained, and she becvery sleepy.
Denise didn't leave. He tidied up the hotel suite, his mind full of confusion as he cleaned.
Harvey stayed in the bedroom.
He sat on the couch, dealt with swork, and then went over to check on Eloise, gently touching her hand.
Her fingers were slender and soft, showing that she seldom did housework. But since she moved into his
apartment, he had given the housemaid a break. Therefore, all the household chores were done by Eloise, and

Harvey suddenly remembered their early days of living together.
Back then, a single glance from him would make Eloise blush.
He knew she liked him.
But now, her face rarely reddened in his presence. Instead, it was last night when Landon called her "honey" that
she blushed and saw the shyness he recognized.
Just thinking about it made Harvey feel a bit overwhelmed.
At four in the afternoon, he took Eloise back to the apartment. She still felt unwell and a bit nauseated.
Denise called the doctor again.
The doctor said it was because she had taken the morning-after pill.
Harvey dismissed everyone else, returned to the bedroom, and looked at Eloise, who looked pale and was
leaning against the pillow. He couldn't help but recall last night, when he was indeed overwhelmed with desire
and enjoying himself more than ever before.
But now that Eloise was sick, he regretted it a bit.
He walked over, gently touched her face, and said, "I won't make you take that again."
Eloise felt embarrassed and turned her face away.
Harvey bowed his head and kissed her gently. It was a long kiss, and it wasn't until a faint blush appeared on her
face that he let go.
Eloise looked up at him, her eyes shimmering with tears.
She whispered. "Harvey, you should stop this."
They had established a tacit understanding between them.
But after all this time, the woman in his heart had returned, and he seemed to enjoy his ambiguous relationship
with Joan.
Eloise felt he should let her go. It would be better for that woman and him, and everyone would be better off.
Harvey didn't say anything and was just looking at her silently.
He wasn't satisfied yet.
How could he be satisfied? All he wanted right now was to sleep with her.
The silence in the air was filled with awkwardness.
Eloise didn't want to beg him. She choked out. "I won't go to the hotel with you anymore."
Harvey's throat bobbed as he thought back to last night's madness.
Just as the tension was peaking, his phone rang. It was a call from a friend.
Harvey put the call on speaker and said, "Riley, what's up?"
On the other end of the phone, a man named Riley laughed lazily.
"Harvey, cout and play tonight? Last night's party was a blast, and Joan's throwing another one tonight.
Landon will apologize to you. By the way, you didn't do anything to hurt Eloise, did you? Women can be a bit
moody, so it's normal for her to be jealous of Joan; it shows she cares about you. | know how you are, Harvey. A
cold shoulder for a few days should do it; don't overdo it."
Harvey didn't argue.
He looked at Eloise with a smirk on his face.
Eloise was so angry that her neck turned red. She grabbed a pillow and threw it at
him.
"Who's jealous?! Harvey, go play with whoever you want; it has nothing to do with me."
Harvey chuckled and said, "Those are Riley's words, not mine."
The man on the other end of the phone laughed.
After a while, he changed his tone and said, "Where's Eloise? Hahaha... | was just saying."
Then he whispered. "Harvey, are you coming or not? Be clear! It's rare for Joan to be back; don't spoil everyone's
mood, okay?"
Riley, the friend, was certain that Harvey would come. Eloise wouldn't dare stop him.
In their circle, there was no precedent for a kept woman to meddle in affairs. Those women were obedient and
gentle. As for those with a bit of a temper, they didn't need to be managed.
He awaited Harvey's response.
However, Harvey simply said, "I'm not going; it's boring."
The man on the other end of the phone was taken aback.
"Harvey, | cwith a mission."
Harvey was blunt. "Eloise is not feeling well; | need to take care of her at home."
The man was completely stunned.

care of a woman now? Harvey was no doctor!
Could it be...?
Riley's voice was a bit heavy. "Harvey, do you actually like her?"
Harvey hung up the phone with a smirk on his face.
He looked at Eloise with a devastatingly charming smile playing around his
mouth. "Ms. Laurent, are you satisfied now?"
Eloise didn't want to pay him any attention.
To her, Harvey's concessions and provocations were nothing more than typical male tactics. If he really liked her,
he would offer her a stable and lasting relationship, not just physical intimacy.
But his compromises and considerations did ease their relationship somewhat.
Over the weekend, Harvey did nothing but take care of her and work in his study.
He even went downstairs to feed the puppy.
Eloise wasn't feeling well.
He didn't touch her, but he always liked to kiss her.
When she was left all hot and bothered by his kisses, he'd chuckle.
During those two days, Eloise felt as if she were back in the past, but she knew deep down that it wasn't really
the case. His consideration and those blush- inducing behaviors were simply because he was in a good mood.
Harvey didn't care whether she was touched or in pain.
After resting for two days, Eloise felt much better and suddenly craved a cup of
coffee.
As she was preparing the coffee, the doorbell rang.
Harvey was in his study, so Eloise went to answer the door, thinking it was Orlena.
Upon opening the door, she froze.
Standing at the door was Joan.
Joan, with a beautiful smile on her face, looked nothing like the spiteful woman
she was that night.
Eloise didn't underestimate Joan. She didn't stop them from meeting either. She let Joan in and went to the door
of the study to tell Harvey about the guest. "Ms. Joan is here. Do you want to see her?"
