Chapter 433 Daniel Visits
"Is this really why you chere?" Emily couldn't believe how ridiculous and
unreasonable Michael was being.
"We're divorced, Michael. We have nothing to do with each other anymore. You call the way here early in
the morning just to askthis?"
Couldn't he have asked over the phone? And what right did he have to ask anyway?
Even as the father of her child, he couldn't just barge in like this.
Emily couldn't help but think again how blind she was three years ago. How did she ever fall for someone so
contradictory?
He was the one who pushed her away, and now he was here, prying into her personal life?
Michael was really something else.
Michael's mood soured as well when he sensed Emily's growing anger.
"| didn't mean anything by it. | was just asking. You're the mother of my child. | have a right to know if you're
seeing someone. If you are, our child will be living with that person too. | need to understand..."
His self-righteous tone was infuriating.
Emily's anger boiled over. She slammed her hand on the table and stood up, her calm demeanor from earlier
completely gone. She felt she shouldn't have let Michael in.
He had ruined her good mood for no reason.
"Michael, is that really why you're here?" Emily cut him off without hesitation.
"Isn't it because of all the news online lately? You think your ex-wife is tarnishing your reputation and the
reputation of Smith Corporation, so you chere to question me? "Michael, I'm a free woman now. We're
divorced. You don't need to treatlike this anymore!
"Do you wantto live under your shadow forever? Or do you think I'm still your caged bird, even after leaving

Emily's voice rose to a shout. Faced with Michael's unreasonable questioning, she felt a surge of madness, her
eyes wild with the pain she couldn't control.
Michael was taken aback by Emily's intense reaction.
What had he said?
He had just asked about her relationship with Archibald.
Why was she reacting like this?
He blurted out, "When did | ever say you were a caged bird? Emily, do you have any conscience at all?
"You wanted a divorce, | agreed. You wanted the child, | agreed. | agreed to everything you asked for. Now I'm
just asking about our child's future, and you're falling apart!
"For all these years, the Smith family has wronged you, and so have I. But do you have to be so aggressive?"
Michael's emotions flared up suddenly.
His face turned pale, his jaw clenched, and his mouth twitched uncontrollably.
He thought he had never blamed Emily for anything. Even if she was with Archibald, he wouldn't have said a
word because he knew it was all his fault.
But what was this now?
Was Emily angry at him for Archibald's sake?
What about their past feelings?
What about those three years?
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He felt it was all so unfair. His chest heaved with rapid breaths,
but seeing that Emily was pregnant, he forced himself to hold back his outburst.
The oatmeal seemed almost ready.
The aroma was already wafting from the pot.
Emily, suppressing her irritation, walked over to the stove and turned off the heat.
The rich smell of the oatmeal suddenly hit her nose, and a wave of nausea followed. Her stomach churned, and
her head felt heavy.
Unable to hold it back, Emily rushed to the bathroom to vomit.
At the stime, Michael felt a similar wave of nausea. His mouth tasted bitter, and
his stomach turned. He hurried to the kitchen sink.
Just then, Abigail, wearing loose pajamas and with messy hair, groggily cdown the stairs.
Seeing the scene, she was stunned. She rubbed her eyes, thinking she was still dreaming. But there was Emily
and Michael, both retching and looking pale and miserable.
"Emily, are you alright? Is the baby okay? What's going on?" Abigail rushed to Emily's side, concerned, then
turned to Michael with a less friendly tone. "What are you doing in my house?"
Michael didn't have a chance to explain before Emily spoke up, "He chere to make trouble!"
"Emily, what do you mean by that? I..."
Before Michael could respond, there was another knock at the door.
Now it was Abigail's turn to be puzzled.
Her house was unusually busy today, with people coming one after another.
After making sure Emily was settled, Abigail went to open the door. It was Daniel, who, unlike Michael, rarely
visited so early. He was carrying bags of breakfast in both hands.

"Daniel?" Abigail's voice drew Emily and Michael's attention.
It really was Daniel.
Seeing him walk in, Michael couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.
It was directed at both himself and Emily.
Without saying another word, Michael prepared to leave, not having touched the breakfast on the table.

Daniel didn't understand what Michael meant.
But seeing the tense atmosphere, he knew Michael had upset Emily again.
So Daniel didn't hold back either. "Since your divorce is all over Emerald City, as Emily's
friend and former classmate, | think | have the right to remind you.
"Mr. Smith, maybe you should stay away for a while, for both your sake and Emily's.
"There's a saying, 'Only when you let go of yourself can the world let go of you.' Otherwise, no one will be happy.
Or do you want your own child to be unhappy too?" Michael had no response to that.
His face changed, his jaw clenched, and his cheeks stiffened.
The door slammed shut with a loud bang.
Abigail huffed in anger and couldn't help but comment. "That guy has no manners at
all! Emily, it's a good thing you divorced him. There's no reasoning with someone like that. He ruins your sleep
and your mood. What a nuisance!"
Emily agreed but felt a mix of emotions she couldn't describe. She didn't know how to respond to Abigail.
Daniel, sensing the tension, changed the subject, "That oatmeal smells amazing! It must be Emily's cooking!
Abigail, | brought sempanadas. Want to join us for breakfast?"
