Chapter 151

The distance between them seemed to vanish, and the air beclighter.

“Have you had dinner yet?” Raphael asked.

Hailey shook her head. “Not yet.”

Raphael walked over to the fridge, opened it, and glanced at the ingredients. After a moment, he grabbed some

vegetables and two eggs. “Do you have any pasta? | haven't eaten either, so I'll cook for you.”

Back when they were overseas, Raphael had cooked pasta for her before. He was an excellent cook, and Hailey

had always loved how he made it.

Hailey wasn’t fond of cooking, but living alone meant she had to keep sfood stocked. She found the pasta in

the cupboard and handed it to Raphael.

Raphael took the ingredients and headed into the kitchen.

With a rare moment of relaxation, Hailey idly scrolled through her phone and started a gto pass the time.

She had becobsessed with the mobile gsix months ago, and within just two months, she had reached

the ranks.

In the middle of her match, Raphael finished cooking the meal.

She played her favorite character, Lucas Sharpe, and quickly took down her opponents with a single shot,

finishing the match in no time.

Neither of them was particularly talkative, so the meal was unusually quiet.

When they finished, Hailey stood up to wash the dishes.

Raphael glanced at the time, stood up, and bid her farewell. “Get srest.”

Hailey nodded. “You too.”

His dark, intense gaze lingered on her, filled with an unspoken emotion she couldn't quite place.

Hailey sensed it and lowered her gaze, unwilling to meet his eyes.

After a long pause, Raphael sighed softly, then reached up and gently ruffled her hair. “I'm going on a business

> tomorrow. I'll be away for about two weeks. Is there anything you'd like as a gift?”

Hailey shook her head. “No need, | don’t want anything.”

Raphael smiled. “Alright, then. See you.” With that, he left the apartment.

Not long after Raphael left, the sky darkened.

Hailey felt sluggish, too tired to move, yet the boredom urged her to turn on the TV.

A war called “The Moon in My Heart” was playing. The actors were excellent, and the director's cinematic

style was top-notch.

Hailey found herself drawn into the show.

By the tthe episode ended, Hailey was still lost, only snapping back to reality when the credits started

rolling. A beautiful male voice sang the closing song.

She liked it and planned to add it to her playlist. The song title appeared right after the credits. She glanced at it

absentmindedly, then froze.

At the end of the credits, the names of the staff, including the director, producers, and production company,

scrolled by. To her shock, Hailey Dalton was listed as the producer.

‘Hailey Dalton...” She thought, ‘Could it be me?”

Hailey couldn't help but widen her eyes. She grabbed her phone and opened the search engine, hesitating

momentarily before typing “Hailey Dalton” into the search bar.

A flood of results instantly appeared on the screen. The top link was a post about her death.

It was a post on X, jointly published by the Dalton Group and the River studio. She glanced at the date-it was

from two

years ago.

Hailey thought, ‘I'm the famous web ist, River! Owen says my surnis Dalton. Does that mean | used to

live with the Dalton family?”

Curiosity about her past, the version of herself from two years ago, suddenly stirred within her.

Since waking up in the hospital, her life had felt lost, like she was wandering without direction.

For a long tafter, she had feared interacting with others.

Hailey thought, ‘My mind is a blank. | don’t remember anything, | have nothing. No friends, no love!

Fortunately, Raphael and Finley had always been there for her. Both were gentle and patient, especially Finley.

After she was discharged from the hospital, Finley worried about her safety and feared she'd be lonely, so he

bought her a cat to keep her

company.

But after just six months, the cat fell ill and passed away, leaving Hailey heartbroken for a long time. From then

on, Finley didn’t let her keep any more pets. Instead, he took her to various parties and social events, hoping she

would make good friends.

Over time, she met a few people, but in the end, only a handful she could still talk to.

Her phone chimed, a message popping up on WhatsApp.

It was a friend she had met in Northsilver, named Scarlett.

Scarlett was an alluring Asian woman who had studied in Northsilver. She becacquainted with a wealthy

heir there, using her charm to get close to him. Recently divorced, he was captivated by Scarlett, and she

managed to benefit from the connection.

The two had met at a party. Scarlett, only twenty-two, was close in age to Hailey, and both shared a similar

cultural background. Surrounded by a sea of blonde-haired, blue-eyed foreigners, they immediately clicked and

quickly formed a deep friendship.

Scarlett had returned to her hcountry half a month before Hailey. She had studied medicine in college, but

instead of becoming a doctor, she had chosen to beca middle school teacher.

Hailey often teased her about wasting four years of medical school, but Scarlett would only smile and say

nothing.

On WhatsApp, Scarlett invited Hailey to lunch the next day. Hailey replied with a simple “Sure.”

After exchanging pleasantries about their recent lives, Hailey stifled a yawn and muttered a quiet goodnight

before heading to the shower and resting.

Chapter 151

The next morning, Hailey woke up at 8 AM, planning to make herself a quick breakfast when the doorbell rang.

She walked to the door and found two delivery guys standing there. One wore the blue uniform of a popular food

delivery service, while the other was clad in yellow, representing a rival company.

The two men looked at each other with an air of awkwardness, clearly unsure of how to handle the situation.

“Here's your breakfast,” the two delivery guys said in unison.

Hailey paused momentarily before replying, “I didn’t order any food. Did you make a mistake?”

The driver in yellow explained, “The order cfrom the phone number ending in 9876.”

The one in blue added, “Mine is from the number ending in 3456.”

Hailey fell silent for a beat, then took both meals with a soft sigh. “Thanks, | appreciate it.”

She recognized the 9876 number-it belonged to Raphael. The other one, however, was more of a mystery.

As soon as Hailey picked up the meals, her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen-it was a WhatsApp

message from Raphael, asking if her breakfast had arrived.

She replied with a quick “Yes,” and before she could put the phone down, it rang-an unfamiliar number.

But she had a pretty good idea of who it was.

“Hello?” she answered.

A deep, cold voice echoed through the speaker. “Did the breakfast | ordered for you arrive?”

“Yeah,”

“The oatmeal from this place is good. You should try it.”

Hailey glanced at the two meals on the table, a frown knitting her brow. “I can make my breakfast. You didn’t

need to order this for me.”

“You never liked cooking,” he said, his tone casual.

He knew her all too well.

Hailey felt something catch in her throat, and her voice was colder than she intended when she spoke. “That was

before. I'm different now.”

There was a long silence on the other end before he asked, his voice low, “So now... You don’t likeanymore?”
