Chapter 1834 Back to Work

With that, Hannah glanced at Cindy. “You’ve been by Ian’s side for a while. The public opinion of you is quite decent,

so the company won’t ask more of you. Just keep things as they are. Also, I helped you apply for a bonus from the

company, and they will probably process it in a day or two.”

Cindy curved her lips into a smile as she thanked Hannah. Actually, instead of a bonus, it should more accurately be

called her reward for keeping up her act with Ian.

After all, there was simply too much news related to Ian, so Cindy would be brought to fame if she followed him, but

she might also be dragged down along with him. Hannah had planned their every move meticulously. After this

whole ordeal, she gave Cindy benefits for fear that the latter would jump ship and quit.

After that, Hannah discussed with Ian the arrangements for his work. Cindy was listening only half-heartedly, getting

distracted as she sat at the side.

Cindy thought of her relationship with Ian right now. If Hannah knew about it, Cindy didn’t know how Hannah would

treat her. Cindy hadn’t spent an awfully long time with Hannah, but she knew the latter’s character very well.

Hannah hated artists getting excessively involved with the staff around them. She was a woman who made a clear

line between work and private matters, so she disliked anyone who mixed up the two.

In her eyes, if someone were to get emotionally involved with their work partners, their work progress would

definitely be hindered. So, when Cindy thought of it, she felt a little guilty.

Hannah talked with Ian for a long time, and she also gave Cindy tasks to carry out next. She was delighted with

Cindy’s performance; she didn’t request anything of Cindy and simply asked her to keep up the good work.

Ian might have a variety show and a drama to film next. However, he could only choose one at the moment, so he

mustn’t waste too much time. If not, the media might turn the tides in their favor.

So, Hannah and Ian discussed their next step for a while. They both agreed to slot in the drama first. The couple-

oriented variety show they promised could be put off a little bit more.

That show had a number of seasons, so they didn’t have to join in the first. They could examine the popularity of

the show first. If it was worth the time, they could join in the later seasons.

Everything was settled after the hour-long discussion. Ian then proceeded to leave the meeting room with Cindy.

Hannah stayed behind, for another call had come in, so she had to answer it.

After getting out, Cindy let out a long sigh and whispered, “For some reason, I feel guilty when I look at her.”

Ian was about to reach his hand out to Cindy, but he paused as he remembered that they were still in the company.

He could only comfort her verbally by saying, “It’s okay. Our relationship is very complicated now, so she probably

wouldn’t notice even if we got a little closer.”

Everyone liked to play pretend in all areas of their lives, in case they got caught doing something not expected of

them.

Hannah should know this as well, so even if she thought that they were getting too close to each other, she

wouldn’t point it out.

Ian and Cindy went to the lounge, where the driver was already waiting inside. Seeing that they had returned, the

driver stood up and sighed. “You are finally back! I had a rough time without you.”

He was arranged to be another celebrity’s driver in Ian’s absence, but unfortunately, not everyone was friendly like

Ian. The driver had gotten so used to interacting with Ian that he felt quite uncomfortable with other celebrities who

didn’t behave similarly.

Cindy smiled. “Who did Hannah put you under?”

The driver whispered a name before Cindy raised an eyebrow. “I thought he’s a pretty nice fellow.”

The driver pouted. “It’s all an illusion, all fake characters. It only gets worse, and I feel like I’ve finally seen the

truth.”

Cindy nodded, for she could understand where he was coming from. Such is the entertainment industry. Everybody

sparkles on the outside but lacks any real admirable character on the inside.
