Chapter 2006 Request

He had a feeling that he lost out in this match, and defeat was bitter. He took a deep breath and first thanked Gary.

"Cindy told me that work has been going well thanks to you. She's grateful, but she doesn't know how to express it,

so she's at a loss."

Gary smiled. "I told her she doesn't have to be that formal. It was just a simple message. I didn't do anything much.

She doesn't have to go that far."

"No," Ian said. "It might be a simple thing for you, but without your help, she would have run into a lot of trouble. Of

course she's thankful."

Gary nodded, but he said nothing.

Ian continued, "It hasn't been long since you knew her, so you might not understand her. She's a really careful lady,

and she feels a lot of pressure because you're too nice to her. She'll start to go stiff."

Gary thought Ian was telling him the truth. He could feel that Cindy was acting differently than she usually was. She

was stiff, and Cindy might talk a lot to him, but that was only because she was trying to keep the conversation going

no matter how awkward it was. That never happened before. Gary grunted. "I've been inconsiderate. I should have

thought of that."

Cindy didn't like to take advantage of anyone, and Gary knew that. Helping her that much would put a lot of

pressure on her.

Ian took the teapot and poured a cup of tea for himself and Gary.

It wasn't the time for alcohol yet, so Ian replaced it with tea, and he raised a toast to Gary. "But honestly, I'm

grateful that you're willing to help her this much." Ian downed the cup of tea.

Gary took a little sip. He still looked calm. Ian might have said a lot, but he wasn't affected in the slightest.

Ian put his cup down, and a moment later, he took his phone out and flipped through it to find something, then he

handed it to Gary. "I'm not sure if this will trouble you, but it's already affecting me and Cindy."

Gary took the phone and glanced at it. It was a chat group, and judging by the name, it was a homeowners' group.

There was a photo in there, and Gary could see that the car in that photo belonged to him, while Cindy was

standing beside it.

The group members were talking about the people in the photo and the car, and they wondered what kind of

relationship they shared. Some of the members recognized Cindy, so they thought that Ian was the one in the car.

They probably didn't know Ian was in the group, so they let themselves go in the chat.

Some said that Ian was working outside, and they knew he couldn't have come back in time, so it must have been

someone else in the car. The driver left after sending Cindy home, so it was obvious he didn't live in the same

neighborhood. After that theory came out, it was obvious that they had come to a sordid conclusion.

Gary pursed his lips as he read through the contents. He could stay calm when he was facing Ian, but after seeing

the chat, his face finally fell. He had guessed that Ian asked him out not only because he wanted to thank him for

helping Cindy, but also because Ian was feeling uneasy that he was meeting up with Cindy a lot recently. However,

now, he knew that wasn't just it. Just like what Ian said, his kindness toward Cindy had affected her and Ian's life.
