With the rise of the Duke of Blackmoor’s influence, many colleagues also came. The Duke took Vance and his son
and nephew to meet people in the official circles, while Prudence led Priscilla, Matilda, a few granddaughters,
and several ladies to mingle and socialize.
Margaret did not bring Eleanor with her, only two maids. She was dressed as splendidly as before, with a graceful
demeanor, exuding elegance and poise.
“Madam, | am deeply grateful for your presence!” Prudence said joyfully.
Margaret wore an appropriate smile on her face. “Mrs. Blackwell, you flatter me. Our two families almost became
in-laws.”
“It’s my granddaughter’s misfortune.” Prudence paused for a moment, not expecting the Margaret to mention
this matter so directly.
Margaret smiled and gave Isolde a meaningful glance. “Miss Langley seems more spirited than usual today.”
Isolde smiled. “Thank you for the compliment, Madam.”
Prudence personally led her inside, arranging for Matilda to stay in the room and entertain the guests while she
went back out to welcothers.
Aveline and Rosemary, Rosemary, arrived together.
Aveline was holding Theodric by the hand, while Bourbon was arm-in-arm with Rosemary.
Seeing this, Prudence quickly led Priscilla upstairs.
“Hello, Princess and Madam!”
Aveline smiled and said, “I hope we are not troubling you too much, Mrs. Blackwell.”
Prudence smiled and replied, “It is an honor forthat you would grace us with your presence.”
Rosemary was dressed in a slightly worn teal satin gown today, with very simple jewelry. She didn’t smile, her
expression rather stern. Perhaps it was due to her long years of service alongside the Queen Mother, but she
always gave off an air of aloofness, making her seem somewhat unapproachable.
Prudence glanced at Bourbon, who was standing beside Rosemary, and greeted her again, “Your Highness!”
Bourbon seemed a bit impatient. “Can we go in now? It's terribly hot out here!”
Prudence hurriedly said, “My apologies, Your Highness. Please, cin and have a glass of fruit juice.”
She turned around and instructed Martha, “You take the Princess...”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHowever, Bourbon pointed at Isolde and said, “You take me.”
Isolde smiled. “Alright, Your Highness, please.”

The two of them walked briskly inside, and Isolde said with a smile, “You look quite stunning today, Your
Highness,
Bourbon was dressed in a vibrant red outfit, looking very spirited and striking
“It's as if you've seenbefore, Bourbon warned, giving her a sharp look.
Isolde shrugged. “Yes, it's my first tseeing you
Matilda spotted Isolde bringing Bourbon from a distance. She quickly walked in and pulled Bryant over, smiling
brightly. “Isnt this Princess Bourbon?”
Bourbon glanced at her indifferently and said, without any politeness, “You are the second wife of Duke of
Blackmoor, the stepmother of County Princess of Cromwell, right?”
Matilda smiled awkwardly. “Yes, Your Highness, it seems you still remember me.”
She nudged Bryant, who had been staring at Bourbon with a dazed expression. Ever since he had seen her last
time, he couldn't stop thinking about her. Now, seeing her again, he couldn't take his eyes off her. When Matilda
nudged him, he finally snapped back to reality. “Your Highness, do you remember me?”
Bourbon gave him a glance but didn’t respond. She simply pulled Isolde along and went inside.
Bryant chuckled, then turned to watch her retreating figure. “Mom, she’s really beautiful.”
Seeing her son’s behavior and feeling her lack of respect, Matilda couldn't help but think that her reputation as a
spoiled young lady was well-deserved. She wasn’t too fond of her. A woman with such arrogance would be hard
to discipline even after marriage. It would be better to marry someone more obedient, someone who could be
more easily managed in the future.
“Stop staring; she’s out of your league,” Matilda said irritably.
“Why is she out of my league? | want to marry her!” Bryant snorted and then went inside.
Matilda was fuming. “There's no end to his troubles.”
One by one, the guests had almost all arrived.
The men were in the main hall, engaged in lively discussions, while Prudence led the other ladies to the garden
to enjoy the flowers.
Rosemary and Aveline looked around for a while, then sat back down in the pavilion to rest. Inside the pavilion,
Margaret had already settled in, relaxing.
Prudence also brought several other ladies over to sit together.
Aveline smiled and said to Prudence, “Why don’t you stay and watch a bit longer?”
Prudence smiled and replied, “I'm getting old, and after walking a few steps, | start feeling tired.”
Rosemary glanced at her and said, “Prudence, you're still strong for her age.”
Prudence chuckled and said, “You flatter me, Rosemary.” She then called Priscilla to bring tea for everyone and
ordered spastries to be served.
After sitting for a while, there wasn’t much to discuss, mainly because Rosemary was present.

She was very serious, her expression conveying authority without anger, her presence overwhelming. No one
dared to start a conversation casually.
Lady Vandenberg, Rebecca, noticed the awkward atmosphere and, with a smile, said to Prudence, “Prudence,
you are truly fortunate. Your granddaughters are all as beautiful as flowers.”
Prudence waved her hand, “Ah, speaking of this, it truly troubles me, my eldest granddaughter still hasn't found
a match. | kindly ask the ladies here to keep an eye out, | would be most grateful.”
Everyone paused in surprise. As they knew, her eldest granddaughter, Michelle, was the one who had been sent
back after being divorced, and her face was disfigured. They didn’t understand why they should be keeping an
eye out for her.
Michelle listened from the side, feeling utterly ashamed.
Isolde had just cin with Bourbon and stood outside, overhearing the conversation. She couldn't help but
smile faintly. She didn’t know why Prudence had made a mistake. It was clearly intentional.
As expected, Prudence slapped her forehead and laughed, saying, “Oh my. I'm getting forgetful. It's actually my
second granddaughter.”
At this, everyone relaxed and smiled, turning their attention to Nicole. They all praised, “Miss Langley is graceful
and poised, and she’s as beautiful as a flower. What are you worried about?”
Prudence said with worry, “Ah, one of my granddaughters was divorced, and the other was broken off from her
engagement and has an unclear connection with Doug. Their reputations are undoubtedly tarnished. Moreover,
the sisters have not reconciled yet. How can I not worry? Since all of you here are wise women who manage your
households well, | ask you to helpwith sadvice.”
However, the focus of everyone's attention quickly shifted to the mention of Isolde and Doug's unclear
relationship.
Doug had been protective of Isolde, and rumors swirled outside. Ssaid they were teacher and disciple, while
others claimed it was due to Doug's past affection for Prunella. However, not many people knew the truth.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAveline said mildly, “What's unclear about it? A teacher looking out for his disciple is only natural. A teacher is
like a second father to his disciple.”
Prudence said, “What you say is correct. Those who know understand it this way, but how can those who don’t
know even begin to guess? I've only been back a few days, and I'm already hearing such disgraceful talk from
outside. A while ago, Isolde went to stay at Paletein Manor for a few days to show filial piety to her teacher, yet
there are rumors saying that Doug called her there to... fool around with him. Ah, such words are unbearable,
how can they not cause anger and worry?”
The phrase “fool around with Doug” coming from Prudence’s lips was truly shocking.
Everyone wondered if such rumors were really circulating outside because they hadn't even heard of them.
Such speculation seemed absurd.
However, Prudence was Isolde’s grandmother and would never make such claims without reason.
The fact that she mentioned it today made one wonder if this banquet perhaps arranged specifically to clarify
this matter.
