When the man did not respond, | sneered and said, "I'm warning you, if you dare to touch me, you'll spend the
rest of your life rotting in jail."
"There's no need to scare me. | know about all the horrible things you lot are capable of. Wretched businessmen
like you steal from the poor like us. The least you can do is return the money to us." His logic made no sense at
all.
| furrowed my brows, convinced that this man had lost his mind. He seemed to have no morals or humanity. My
mind toldnot to provoke a madman like him. Hence, | did not respond to him and glanced at my
surroundings.
| had been wandering around aimlessly. | failed to realize that the crowd had lessened and that | had wandered
into an isolated area.
| was no longer in Whaldorf City. Theo had not arranged for bodyguards to trail me, so if | wanted to escape this
man, | had to cup with something myself.
"What are you looking at?" Amelia's brother asked with a faint smirk. "Trying to escape?"

"It doesn't matter if you believeor not, but Amelia committed suicide. As for why she did it, you should know
the reason better than I do. You guys leeched off of her, and the pressure she was under was unbearable. She
was like a walking corpse every day. You killed her."
The man's smile disappeared as his expression darkened suddenly. He said darkly, "I guess you don't want to live
anymore."
As soon as he said that, he took a knife from his bag and approached me.
My face paled. | did not think he would go to such extremes. He was going to murderon the streets.
Behindwas a dead end. When faced with a strong man who was wielding a weapon, | had no chance of
escape.
As he approached me, a sense of dread washed over me. | watched as he swung his knife at me. | wanted to
dodge with every fiber of my being, but my body refused to move. There was nothing | could do. "Go to hell!" His
venomous voice rang through the streets.
"Don't you dare, Anthony!"
The sudden voice that rang out stunned me. Anthony, too, was frozen in his tracks.
| heard the sound of men shouting beside me, and | looked over calmly.
Anthony was pressed against the ground by two men as they beat him viciously. There was no sign of his
previous swagger.
Moreover, the man who stood beforewas Tory Zimmerson.
He looked atwith an amused look and with his usual cynical expression.
"You got scared just from that?" He mockedmercilessly. "I thought Grayson Louis' daughter was a ruthless
beast. Even if you weren't ruthless, | thought you might have been a little worldly and that you'd be calm when
facing these kinds of situations.
Seems like you're just a softie."
| did not take his mocking words to heart. | was just grateful that he had saved me.
| wiped the sweat off my forehead and said sincerely, "Thank you for saving my life."

Tory sneered as if he was looking down on me.
| knew he thought that | was a spineless coward. | had no intentions of trying to praise someone who did not
think highly of me, so I held my tongue.
Anthony was bruised and battered. He was now curled up on the ground, begging for mercy. "I was wrong, Young
Master Zimmerson. I'll never do that again. Please spare me. Don't hurtanymore." Tory looked at his
subordinates for a moment and said curtly, "Sure." His subordinates stopped immediately and stood off to the
side.
Tory walked up to Anthony and knelt before him. He squinted at him and said," This is the first time, and this will
also be the last. I'm warning you, never touch her again. If you do, you won't have any hands to gamble with.
Perhaps it'd be a good thing for you to lose your hands."
Anthony was a wimp. He bullied the weak and feared the strong. He did not dare to disobey Tory and nodded
hurriedly. "Rest assured, Young Master Zimmerson, I'll never appear before her again. | was reckless and stupid.
Please sparejust this once."
Tory looked at him in disdain, then got up and kicked him while muttering in disgust. "Now hurry up and fuck off. «
Don't you dare show up in front ofagain."
