Chapter 158 Dog-Eat-Dog
Sierra tightened her grip on her bag. It would be a lie to say she didn’t want to leave, but the memory of
Lewis’ ruthless behavior ran through her head, dissuading her from the idea. Despite this, she was
unable to let go. Love was definitely a scary thing. Sierra smiled bitterly, understanding she would be
trapped in his grasp for the rest of her life.
After Lewis left the residential area, he drove hurriedly to the hillside mansion instead of Styx Mansion.
Normally, just the caretakers would be present in this mansion, but there were multiple guards on duty
today.
The guards at the entry spotted his car and opened the gate respectfully, watching his car drive into the
mansion before closing the gate again. Lewis pulled up in front of the mansion, and Phineas ran over to
help him open the car door. He then greeted, “President Alvarez.”
“Where is he?”
“He’s inside.” Phineas swiftly led the way. They circled around the mansion to reach the backyard
instead.
The dogs were kept in the backyard. They were let out in the evening to roam freely within the fenced
area before being locked up for the day. Seth was inside at the time. Phineas wanted to scare him, so
he abandoned him with the dogs and an empty cage. He expected Seth to be startled by the dogs and
hide in the cage. This was a scheme to humiliate Seth.
When Lewis and Phineas arrived at the backyard, they did not find Seth trembling in the cage as
Phineas had anticipated, but he was using the dogs as makeshift cushions. Having a few dogs as
cushions provided a lot of warmth on such a cold day. Seth appeared to be either meditating or
peacefully asleep, with his hands resting behind his head.
Phineas’ demeanor changed when he saw this situation, and he intuitively glanced at Lewis beside
him. “President Alvarez, this…”
These dogs were surprisingly useless!
“They’re just some useless animals. Get rid of them,” Lewis said nonchalantly. He then walked in

As the dogs caught a whiff of his scent, several of them perked up, raising their heads to look his way.
The dogs, who had been acting as cushions for Seth, also stood up in response. Seth nearly fell to the
ground after losing the dogs’ support, but he swiftly braced himself with his hands.
Seeing Lewis’ arrival, Seth sneered, “I wondered who it was. It turned out to be you, Lewis.”
The dogs around Lewis avoided him as he walked toward Seth, clearing a route for him. He stood in
front of Seth and looked down at him, saying, “Only you are capable of laughing in the face of death.”
Seth laughed nonchalantly and replied, “Really? Then why haven’t you killed me? Let me guess. Is it
because of Josephine? It seems that you have discovered her true identity. What should I do?”
Seth had a teasing tone. It was as if he wasn’t afraid that Lewis would murder him. Meanwhile, Lewis
had no intention of bickering with him. He crouched down in front of him and smirked, saying, “There
are many ways to torture a person. Murder is just one of them.”
“I agree. So, how do you plan to torture me then, Lewis?” Seth asked.
“I’ll need to give that some thought, of course. How about we start with a castration?” Lewis answered
calmly.
Seth’s smile stiffened. He then quickly resumed smiling and said while clenching his teeth, How cruel.”
“It seems that you like this idea. Very well then…Phineas!”
Phineas walked toward him with big strides after hearing his call. “President Alvarez.”
Lewis tilted his head slightly and said, “It appears that Mr. Fairchild has trouble moving. Why don’t you
give him a hand?”
Phineas felt a slight soreness in that area of his body after hearing those words. He masked his unease
and nodded. “Alright.”
“Wait. President Alvarez, don’t you want to know why I gave in so easily?” Seth said suddenly, and a
few cracks appeared in the smile on his face.
Lewis stood up and heedlessly smoothed out the non-existent crease on his sleeve. He remarked, “I
wanted to know at first, but now I don’t think there’s any need for it.”
“Then let’s make a trade.”
“Not interested.”
Seth propped himself up and sat upright. He stared at Lewis and said, “No, you’re interested.”
“Oh?”
“Do you know who owns the company named TOPSUN?”
Lewis gave him a burning gaze. As if he were pondering something, Lewis paused for a moment before
he said, “It’s Kiran’s.”
Seth raised his brows and answered, “Exactly. Isn’t he already a part of Alvarez Corp? Then you’d
have guessed his motives by now.”
“So, are you interested now?” Seth asked after not receiving a response from him.
Lewis sneered, “So what? Are you planning to have a cutthroat competition with him?”
“Haha… President Alvarez, you’re the one in a dog-eat-dog situation with him. What does it have to do
with me? You should know that I’m fine with siding with anyone. I’m only interested in seeing your
family fight to the death,” Seth replied and laughed upon hearing
him.
What Seth said might not be pleasant to hear, but it was the truth. Kiran was Robert’s
illegitimate son. Although Robert did not announce it to the public, those with discerning eyes could see
it clearly. Kiran and Lewis were both ambitious. After the failure of his previous plan, Kiran decided to
beat Lewis at his own game by joining Alvarez Corp and taking him head-on. It really was a dog-eat-
dog situation.
Robert had been extremely kind to Kiran, even granting him the overseas holding group. But Kiran
wasn’t content and desired more. He wanted to take away all that belonged to Lewis. As for Lewis, no
one knew what his thoughts were but himself.
Seth whispered, “Do you want to take over TOPSUN as well?”
Without waiting for Lewis to react, Seth added, “President Alvarez, don’t pretend you don’t need me.
He currently owns 27% of Robert’s stock, which is similar to yours. On top of that, he has TOPSUN in
his grasp. With your intelligence, you must be aware of the challenges that lie beyond.”
Lewis’

eyes narrowed, and they locked gazes, neither prepared to back down. The dim light in the backyard
cast shadows on their faces, and a chilly sensation flooded the air as their eyes
met.
Suddenly, Lewis turned and walked away. He ordered, “Phineas, take good care of Mr. Fairchild.”
Phineas was taken aback but answered, “Yes!”
Seth laughed angrily, realizing that collaborating with someone like him was an open invitation to
disaster. Phineas stepped on Seth’s wound after Lewis had gone. “My apologies, Mr. Fairchild!”
The pain from the wound was excruciating, and he was covered in cold sweat. But he held it in and did
not make a sound. He gritted his teeth in pain and glared at Phineas. “I’m President Alvarez’s partner
now. I’ll let you go this time, but you better stop!”
Phineas was stunned and looked at Seth before withdrawing his foot in embarrassment. He was only a
caretaker. After Seth was released, he could easily take Phineas’ life with just casual methods. Those
who could go head-on with Lewis were not ordinary people. He could never
outsmart them.
“Well, then, allow me to entertain you in another manner,” Phineas replied. He then nonchalantly lifted
one of the dogs beside him, the same one that had been serving as a cushion for Seth. He dragged the
dog away as he left.
Lewis did not return home the entire night.
The next morning, Josephine went to the company, understanding that she could not afford to lose her
job, especially now that Lewis was unemployed. Otherwise, they would face bankruptcy and the
possibility of living on the streets. As soon as she arrived at the company, Sophia looked for her and
said, “Josephine, take a look at this. If there are no mistakes, sign it.
”
Josephine lifted the document and glanced at it. On it was written “Notice of Job Adjustment.” She gave
Sophia a surprised look.
Sophia said, “Don’t misunderstand. We’re not firing you. We would like to give you a new position. This
document is to notify you that you’ll be transferred to the director’s office upstairs as a secretary.”
Josephine was shocked when she heard she would be transferred to the director’s office. That would
mean that she would be Robert’s secretary.
“Don’t just stare blankly. Quickly sign it and move your things upstairs.”
